Great tech help at UVic
When I run into video or graphic problems I go to the Red Hat lab at UVic. Here Dave, one of the supervisory staff, helped me today. Loved his graciousness, patience, perseverance, curiosity and expertise.
Creative independent play
This four year old comes and happily plays with our great collection of toys for an hour by himself while his mother takes part in a class here each week.
Great customer service at the library
With 18 minutes before closing time, I got on my bike to return two inter-library loans to Nellie McLung branch. I got there in about 5 minutes, and placed the books on the counter as the clerk was very busy with another customer. When I phoned home to see if there was any other business to attend to, Loni asked if I’d mailed the letter. I hadn’t seen one, but when I checked with the libary clerk, they found it. Minutes later I was outside, and a clerk came out with Loni’s library card. Seems she may have left it at the branch a few days before. ( We’d been looking for it.)
When I was in grade 12 our English class had a student teacher. I thought ‘ there’s something special happening here’ with this student teacher. Since then we’ve worked together, taught in the same school for 3 years, etc and stayed in touch.
I found this today in an earlier email from him, ‘ As for “who we are”, from your work with ‘people’ you are very aware by listening to others we enrich ourselves, and by telling our stories we provide a context that we can reflect on. Our interaction over all these years continues to enrich my life. Thank you my friend.’
