In a large grocery store I saw a couple walking along, smiling. I stopped them and said, “Wonderful to see you smiling!”…
A few seconds later a bright light-face coming behind them.. but not connected to them said, “I’m smiling too”.
I said, “It’s spreading!”

“Without your kindness and openness today would not have unfolded. Your incredibly supportive energy helped navigate and bring this program to fruition.
Our mother is smiling!
And so are we!

A life-expanding introduction.
Art has been a transformative force in my life. From childhood to my teenage years, drawing made me happy. However, I paused this outlet.
believe me. I am brave and smart, but as a female immigrant who does not speak English properly, I prefer to be silent when I know your answers because it takes too much energy from me to prove my knowledge. The challenge of expressing myself is a real pain. I am finding my voice. I feel drawing is helping me make friends and build trust. In a quest for inner peace, I turned to painting as a form of art therapy. It became a sanctuary, allowing me to navigate the complexities of my emotions and find solace in the strokes of my crayons and color pencils. Now, in the embrace of my beautiful solitude, art has become a healing journey, bringing me back to the joy and fulfillment that creating brings.
We don’t need to be perfect. We are all artists somehow.
I hope that by creating art, I can make new friends and find a way to express myself. As an immigrant with a language barrier, it’s sometimes hard to talk and share my feelings. I want to use art to connect with others who may understand what it’s like. My goal is to feel a sense of belonging and support, and I expect it will help me break down barriers, make friends, and share our stories through art.
I believe that creating together can be a powerful way to heal, especially when language might be a challenge. I can see how art can bring people together.
