Making it real
Just before riding to a Welcome to UVic event I was helping with yesterday, I thought of bringing ‘the pups’ with me on my bike. We were at a table right by the main entrance to a building with many information tables.. It was the perfect set up for so many greetings. People flocked to see , and in many cases hold the pups. Something fresh, live and affectionate in a day of tours and talks..
“At UVic it’s not your size… but your heart that counts.”
I was helping at a ‘Welcome to UVic’ event today, and my colleague there showed me a picture that had been published, from one of these events we’d done in the summer with Babette who really loves meeting new folks, and visa versa. This shot really captured the energy and attention of the moment between ‘pup’ and students.
Sitting in the front row at the Belfry gives more opportunity to ‘meet the people’…I often ask people what is the story behind their t-shirts or sweat shirts.. This fellow was a live wire… His daughter bought it for him… Certainly matches his spirit ..
I took the 257 bus and the driver, a sweet soul, went the wrong way and came up an exit instead of onto the on ramp 60’ farther …
Multiple supervisors .. several cop cars .. some corporate traffic control .. full Austin Powers in a bendy bus to no avail .. had to give up, move the traffic over, and drive the bus the wrong way so far along the highway until we could go the wrong way along another on ramp and find a junction
And I made the boat!
Those bendy buses do not turn around .. supervisor took the wheel at one point and couldn’t do it either
Nice it wasn’t raining .. people driving on the highway were delayed but otherwise no harm done
It was lucky Halloween night for me. . This is what happened.
After dropping by two amazing Hallowe’en houses, I went to the bank. While I used the ATM, someone gave me a call. I was in a hurry to get the call and grabbed the receipt and bank card to leave. Unfortunately, I left my wallet on the ATM machine.
An hour later, I found my wallet was missing and drove back to the bank with my son. Nothing was on the machine and I felt really frustrated. Suddenly my son excitedly said: “Mom, your wallet is inside. I looked towards where my son is pointing. Through the glass door, I saw my wallet was on the counter and felt relieved.
The next day, after work I went to the bank and got my wallet back. I was so lucky even though I didn’t know who picked up the wallet and handed it in the bank. I really appreciated it.
We had an extra vanity table with mirror that our favorite thrift store didn’t want. I advertised it on MarketPlace for free . Two people replied. One came quite quickly. This young man had a new home and this would help him. Great to hear.
