Finding common ground quickly
At Beach Day I asked a woman who was talking to me about her children, how she was able to stay at home with her children. She’s a seamstress for a large company and has flexible hours. I mentioned Gar Fung, a renowned local seamstress near downtown, as a wonderful example for her industry/ trade. She was grateful to hear of her because she is often asked for recommendations and would like to have a affordable, skilled one to suggest.
As we ask different questions, the stories and the benefits often increase.
In depth help
I called BlueHost about 5 or 6 times about an issue.Of all the people Kelsey, the last person was the most helpful. She really dug in to the issue, and came up with a unique, detailed and thoughtful analysis. No one compared.
I contacted the web developer and asked for a refund. It was granted.
Greeted by care, empathy and humour
She came to the hospital with an emergency and left full of appreciation.
A school/ family beach adventure day across town
I went down to Cadboro Bay for some seaweed and some rocks. It was Beach Day for a school on the south side of town. They could have gone across the street to Beacon Hill Park, but made more of an adventure by venturing 20 minutes away.. So much joy, so many family members.
To have the kids in my class write about What Went Well this week and to see the smiles on their faces as they shared their favourite memory for the week!
A helping hand for a young mom
Waiting at the inside entrance of St Aidan’s Thrift Shop. A young mom with small babe and labradoodle came in. She didn’t see the ‘small dogs in arms’ notice. She was gracious when I pointed it out, and appreciative when I offered to hold Oliver’s leash while she did her looking, etc. Oliver, who I had never met, is very well trained, and very chill.
