Adventures in Victoria with animals
We have house guests coming with a 5 year old. We wanted to have some suggestions of low budget activities for the girl and her mother. Her grandmother told me what she enjoyed doing. I posted a request on Facebook and got a number of suggestions that were new to me. I appreciated the sharing of fav spots and activities.
Re-housing a BBQ
Advertised a BBQ that came with the house my daughter bought. With a number of building projects going on they wanted excess stuff given away. Was able to advertise this through Freecycle and someone came, tested it, and took it. She contacted me during the process a couple of times, getting further information and clarification. It worked out so well.
Stories from the best seat on the beach
I watched as an inflatable dinghy came to shore from the bay. He carefully chose a spot to land and stepped onto the shore. A little later he got in his boat and left. He made it all the way to his boat. A few minutes later he reappeared on the shore. I asked him about his routine. Seems he had forgotten his car keys. He was so peaceful about it all. Sometimes he forgets his glasses.. Just a reason for more exercise.
Someone emailed me wanting to set up conversations in downtown coffee shops. I responded with this example I had recorded a few days before
She wrote back,”This is SOOO encouraging to hear!
That video is EXACTLY what I was suggesting! awesome!”
Teaching music to children with unique needs
A standout classroom moment with a child who others thought would not speak up.
These and other experiences were shared with me during walks to school with a house guest each day for a week. It was such an inspiring and opening experience.
Loved meeting Pauline, a social worker who helps people draw on their hopes and dreams, to move forward.
