Met ‘Tobin’ at Cadboro Beach near my ‘ best seat in the house’ with his bike, waiting for a running group. He talked about the support Camosun is offering him in upgrading his math skills, from a grade 7 level, to college prep. Appreciated his courage to improve himself, and the positive process he’s helped shape.
Then on to a compost education centre in a park. Nice display of benefits of composting, suitable for school classes and home-owners.
Honouring a friend who’s passed
At the beginning of this month, a beloved grandmother passed on. She was pretty central to the family who were feeling a bit up in the air since she had made it clear that she did not want a funeral. A “dinner” was suggested and agreed upon. So the local immediate family and 2 friends had a dinner. A crossword, word search and anagram puzzle were made, all about her life. So after dinner we did the puzzles in groups and talked about her. There were lots of laughs and happy remembrances. We finished with a the card game “99” which she had really liked. I am hoping this will have been one step on the road to healing for this dear family.
Went through my phone and found this clip I’d recorded a week earlier at Music Fest in Courtenay. It was such a heart felt story that I contacted the manager of Pied Pumpkin and shared the video. A couple of the band wrote back, touched by the memory.
“A wonderful memory of the special moments we all have shared and the special efforts that made them come to be!
big love
