Christopher Naismith is an engineer and community organizer who works to conserve the environment in order to create a sustainable future. He talked about some very important ideas today, but the two that stood out most to me were that it is very important to conserve energy and that making a safe and reliable future is a very important aspect to consider when choosing which career you would like to follow. Of the stories he told, the one I found most interesting was how he decided to start working to conserve the environment. He had no idea what he wanted to be when he was younger, but when he had kids he realized that he really cared that his kids grew up in a healthy world. One of the main ideas I can apply to my life is not using electricity whenever possible like turning off the lights when I walk out of a room.
I thought we could all learn a lot from Christopher’s interview. I found it surprising that he rode his bike as his main form of transportation and how involved he is in our environment. What stood out to me is that Chris is very involved in many local and global issues, mostly based around global warming. He has changed his personal habits to fit this way of life. He is now a vegetarian, among other significant changes. A story I found surprising, was how he said he could save our school
$10 000, and how this was possible. Overall, I thought we could all learn quite a bit from Christopher’s way of life.
I found the part of your speech that was about technology and helping the environment . I found it really Interesting that you travel around the world. and how you left us with a question to find the answer to which was very intriguing for me because it sort of just left us hanging which was neat in my opinion.During Christopher’s interview, I also learned that at UVic, they are saving $300,000 in electric bills every year by using Christopher’s idea.
During Christopher’s interview, I learned that at UVic, they are saving $300,000 in electric bills every year by using Christopher’s idea. They simply reprogram the computer that runs the building. If at Royal Oak, we did the same, we could save $10,000. What stood out for me was when Christopher said out of 10 jobs in the future, 6 haven’t been invented yet. Most people are trying to change today, to make today a better day. Christopher looks to tomorrow, and does what he can to make tomorrow a better place. Christopher is trying to find new energy sources, and he said that we don’t know what sources we can use yet, but we do know what not to use.
Christopher’s interview was very interesting, I found it really cool how he travels, he basically uses his bike to travel to different places. I also liked now innovative he was, he wanted all of us to make a change for the better and use less energy, so the environment can stay healthy and safe. Christopher really cares for the environment, he said that he was working on a project at UVIC that would help them save $300,000, which is really big deal. He also said that he was working on a campaign to stop oil tankers, which are destroying our environment. I think that Christopher’s interview helped me learn a lot, and it was very helpful.
