Garbage can yield beauty [ The technical term with this art is ‘simulacra’..] as proved here by a UVic recycling employee. He found these plastic flowers in the garbage and drives his art all over campus in his electric cart for his daily routes.
He draws appreciative comments all over campus.
Fresh moments in a bank line up that started with a question about the image on the back of his shirt.. Besides tennis.. he just completed his masters in Computer Engineering, and completed a job interview in his field. When asked what he brings to an interview, and subsequent position.. “fresh”.
I learned more about research assistant positions on UVic campus. May be helpful for a friend.
Five days ago I learned from a colleague at UVic that bus traffic from the bus loop is discontinued between 7 and 4 pm on weekdays due to road work on Ring Road. This resulted in having to take a 25 minute walk to the loop.. or catch the bus outside the UVic campus. The closest bus stop from our office does not allow her express bus to stop, therefore requiring a walk of several more blocks.
I phoned Victoria Transit, explained the problem, and the solution I was suggesting.. temporarily allow the Express bus to stop at the closer stop, 12 minutes from the office. The clerk totally understood the predicament and was determined to put this request on the ‘right’ desk.
5 days later, the change was made.
Finding tranquility on a large campus on a Sunday evening. Definitely a precious moment.
Was invited to a 20th wedding anniversary [ a second marriage] in a friend’s home. It was beautiful weather and packed. Lots of love. In this scene they are dancing and singing to “Love is all you need”.. with a live duo on guitar and keyboard/
