When visiting a friend in the hospital, I met an older gentleman and we shared a few stories. He was an inventor and still worked as a plumber. I told him about my service, “Strategic Introductions” .. helping bring people together. He gave me his card and a few months later I met a widow of one year who sounded like she was open to a new conversation. I heard today that they have met several times, and her family is very encouraging.
A very busy friend moving into a condo, needing internet. He was open to ‘some legwork done for him.’ I contacted Telus and their plans were excellent. Their ‘unlimited data’ option is only $5/ month. It used to be much more. There’s a six month substantial discount as well.
Love the opportunities to help others as a university chaplain. So much good listening and caring is going on. An experienced colleague says what’s really needed is a ‘ministry of presence.’
Green Drinks was especially helpful and active this month. In just a couple of minutes I heard what two guests really were interested in, and was able to introduce them to another member who had extensive sailing experience locally and internationally. They were thrilled.
Discovered the newly constructed Telsa Superchargers at Uptown mall. These are only the second Superchargers on Vancouver Island. They are 6x faster than level 2 chargers found in some parts of the city.
I won the November Yoga challenge prize at Ashtanga Yoga. I was in the running by going to Yoga five days a week for a month, regardless of friends deciding to accompany me on any particular morning, nor the proficiency of others ‘in the room.’ Just ‘showing up’ consistently is a key.
The thoughtfulness and energy of the ‘curator’ and the community connections espoused by the yoga studio shone through. Touched by the occasional ‘congratulations’ where usually we move in a respectful code of silence in the studio.
It was a generous package of gifts many of which we have re-gifted. They served an an introduction to new stores, products, opportunities and geographies and the often lovely spirits that work there.
