On CBC’s North by Northwest a minister was talking about the toll that helping people can take on people. Asked how he deals with this, he said, “At the end of each day I ask myself ‘What’s gone well today.’ ”

Yesterday BCAA told me my flat tire was not likely to be repairable due to a nail puncture and the long drive before it was pointed out to me. BUT by this morning the damaged tire had plumped up on its own and when I took my vehicle to Fountain Tire for an estimate for repair (which easily could have meant 2 to 4 new tires) they were able to fix the damaged one. Then I was surprised when they said to me, “No charge!”. Apparently this gift was because one of their long time customers had recommended them to me! So going from a potentially spending a large amount of money to free made me smile today
I was so happy to be included in a surprise 20th birthday party for a former student. I was lamenting my lack of grandchildren, (the kids are 30, 35 and 38) as another guest was showing pictures of her 8 grandchildren. The birthday girl promptly piped up that she intended to bring her children around to see me and we would put them in speech arts (in which she excelled) and in festival. Such a sweet thing to say and I am looking forward to that. Thanks Maddy Hughes.
