What’s Gone Well Today ® at School
What’s Gone Well Today at School is a question, in fact a movement designed to shift our thinking, to bring out the best in our own experiences at school, with the friends and new faces in our classes . We’re encouraging students and teachers to share experiences that have gone well. We hope that people will find more highlights in their day, and share what they are enjoying in their learning and playing at school.

We did art and it was so much fun! We played with clay. We made lots of things out of clay. We made clay pinch pots, a flower pot, an elephant and a whale. In art we also did sgraffito. We used oil pastels and drew a picture. Then we used a thin coat of black acrylic paint with a little bit of soap so it would stick to the oil pastel.
This year Ms. Newton taught us how to play the guitar. She taught how to do the D chord , A7 chord and G chord. And we wrote 3 songs. It’s a Brand New Day, It’s a Brand New Game and Its Been a Great School Year.
This year we ran lots of laps. I ran fifty km. Our class ran the most sticks in total. So we are first out of the whole school. Our class almost ran every sunny day. Once we ran in the rain.
This year we went on five field trips. We went to the Biodiversity Museum, the Aquarium, Burnaby Village museum, Munscha Mia and South Arm Pool.
This year we also got to go on many, many, many did I say many? field trips like the UBC museum, the Munscha Mia play and the aquarium. That was just like a quarter of all the field trips we went to. My favourite field trip was the UBC museum because I liked that they had a REAL whale skeleton hanging from the ceiling.
I had a great year! 🙂
The year was so much fun. We got to play hockey all year. We also went on fun field trips like Munscha Mia, South Arm and the Aquarium.
In hockey I played centre with Justin on the right wing and Jaden on the left wing. I scored a lot of goals and so did Justin! But Jaden normally gets assists. On our teams we have names from the Canucks. My name is Ryan Kesler and Justin is Alex Burrows, But Jaden is Henrik because he always assists people. Just last week we made new teams. Marco and I thought of the idea but I wanted to be on Marco’s team but the teams failed. Marco was on a different team but the weird thing was he had 2 people from his old team. It was a bit weird! Also In Gym we did laps around the track I did 88 laps around in total. My friends got more than me because I wasn’t here for three months, but I did pretty well!
Anyways, now to the school part. We got to do so many fun things this year! We got to do lots of fun things like art, guitar, we made some songs, we went on field trips, we wrote in our characters books, And we learned about the provinces and territories of Canada!
We also got to work in our novel study book. The books that we read were Geronimo Stilton, (We just got books and then we wrote the summary, what did I learn, and vocabulary) Mice at Centre Ice, and the Mouse and the Motorcycle.
For characters we got to write about all the fun things like My Pet, Disneyland, Canucks Game, Seeking Stanley, and lots of other fun things. When we write we usually use past tense. I remember I was in Ms. Newton’s class last year so we got to do lots of fun things that year too. I actually have my character’s book from last year! My characters name last year was George Williams. This year my character’s name is Victor Williams. Both of my character’s are brothers and they both live in Toronto.
We also got to study about whales and elephants! I remember about how whalers get the whales into their boat, and how much whales eat in a day. Apparently they eat as much as 1 elephant per day. So that is between 200 and 250 pounds PER DAY! That is a lot of food. But whales usually eat plankton so, that’s a lot of plankton. But we also found out that plankton is half an inch tall! But also I should talk about elephants, they shouldn’t be left out. Elephants have two different types, African and Indian. African elephants have long tusks. Indian elephants do not have long tusks but Indian elephants have a hump on their back.
In guitar we got to do some fun things too! We learned the G chord, D, and A7. Those are all the chords we play. So It is really simple but it is still fun. My favourite song is called “The Gypsy Rover” it has quite frequent chord changes. Our class also made 3 songs! They are called “It’s a Brand New Day”, “It’s a Brand New Game”, and also “It’s been a Great School Year”. I Remember Chris Gailus heard about our song when the Canucks were still playing in the Stanley Cup Final, but he just kind of left us hanging. But it has been really busy because of the riots that happened so he didn’t get around to us. But, there is always a next time!
Oh! How could I forget about art! We played with clay! We got to make clay whales for fathers day! And we got to play with pastels! We got to use chalk and oil pastels. We got to experiment with everything you can imagine with art! We got to make our own colour wheels and we also made sgrafitto! We did pictures of elephants in the sgrafitto.
We also went on some really exciting field trips. The most recent one was the yearly tradition of going to South Arm pool. We all go to the pool. Except for the grade 7’s… But there are these teeter totters that is ANOTHER tradition of swigging the totters. But we went to the Beaty Biodiversity Museum. It was a really fun field trip. Also we went to the Burnaby Village Museum. Also we got to go to the Carousel Theatre On Granville Island. We saw a show called “Munscha Mia” And It was a ply of some of the Robert Munch stories. Now the 1st field trip we went on was to the Vancouver Aquarium.
I have had a great experience with What’s gone well this year. We have shares what we have done throughout the last 9 Months. It has been a really fun experience. I will be sure to post on What’s gone well through the summer and share What’s gone well this week. IN THE SUMMER!
I Have Had A great Year!!
This was the best year ever! School is almost over. Hockey was the best, it was really fun. If I add up all my goals I would have 49 goals that is a lot.
I loved making the Killer Whales it was so cool. We made clay orcas, clay elephants, clay pots it was hard to do. We also made oil pastel sunflowers.
Characters was so much fun. My vehicle, a walk with my cousin, Vancouver is 125, Vancouver made the play offs, I love chocolate, Paris, Whale watching were my favourite. I really think my writing got better because I enjoyed the topic’s.
I had a great school year!
It’s been a great school year! The grade sevens are so lucky! They get to go to Playland! So not fair! Too bad I can’t skip grade 5 and go right to grade seven. I hear they’re building a new ride. It’s called the Atmosfear.
We’ve been playing hockey all year. We’ve learned to pass. And now lots of the goals that have been score are assists. (It was a game) In the beginning of the year my friend wrist shot it across the gym and it went in. I was stunned because he wrist shot it from such a far distance.
It was just cool! And just a few weeks ago I scored 3 Hat Tricks. It was really fun.
We read 3 books this year. We first read Mouse at Centre Ice. I don’t remember what
happened but I think the mice tried to steal the Cheddar cup from the rats because it was theirs.
Then the rats challenged the mice to a game to win the Cheddar Cup. The mice won. That’s all I can remember. We also read Mouse and the Motorcycle. When we finished Mouse and the Motorcycle, we got a collection of Geronimo Stilton books. It’s been really fun reading the Geronimo Stilton books. His books lead to really awesome adventures.
