Professional recognition
Lucas, our mail carrier, brought up how great our mailbox looks. Loni had made a special effort to clean it up. So worth it!
He’s such a class act in using our first names.
We were led to adopt a very frightened and unsocialized senior cat from the spca, with warnings that she may never be the affectionate companion that most people who had inquired about her wanted. That was a month ago and after weeks of hissing and hiding she has turned into a loving and funny and affectionate family member.
Weeding our pumpkin patch on a friend’s farm felt a bit daunting as the weeds were thick in the rich soil. After a few sessions I discovered the most efficient tools and steps to take. Very rewarding!

Attending with a clear, curious thought pays off
The irrigation system at our church had a leak in it. From my previous few days of dealing with my own system, I said I’d repair it. When I went to fix it, I saw a coupling holding the valve together was not sitting properly. When I took it off, I saw it was cracked. I took it down to West Tech and they sold just the part I needed, not the whole valve. Problem solved!
Opening doors to new territory
A friend saw this ‘free couch’ online. When she went to look at it in Esquimalt she really liked the girl who was giving it away.Turned out this girl was moving out, and my friend loved her place, and the landlord. She’s now moved in, and is thrilled by the vibe in the neighbourhood, and her daily walk down to the harbour.
Great customer service … learning opportunity from West Tech
A lot went into installing this new valve in our irrigation system. It culminated in having to phone the vendor when no water flowed through this irrigation zone. The first ‘agent’ I got, knew little about the technology. I said that I would do what I can on my own.
I phoned a second time and got a fellow who knew enough to confer with others around him, and ended up getting me talking to Bruce, who I learned later from another staff member is West Tech’s CEO, who was so endlessly patient, thorough and effective. I learned a lot from working with him and we had this working in about 20 minutes.
