At first she had nothing. Then she said her husband died two years ago, and that changes everything. Then she said, ” A friend said that I had good memories of my marriage.” We both agreed that was priceless.
She talked about how she helped him get economic peace with his ex.
As she was bagging her groceries I came up and said,” I have a gift for you. This is not a business card.”
I gave her one of my “You Made My Day” cards… designed to pay it forward when she chooses.
While walking downtown last week, I overheard a loud voice. As I continued walking I heard a more of the words being said, something like “Well, if you don’t want to move I can’t help it”. I saw a man quickly walk away from a corner where I had noticed on earlier walks a young man seated with this written on a cardboard sign “Talk to a real person”. Hmmm, I wasn’t sure what was next, and then I saw an older woman quickly approach the seated guy and ask him if he was alright, was everything okay? By the time I passed them, they were talking, softly and it was just another sunny wintery day. I was grateful to have witnessed the immediacy of the kind, soft response (remedy) to the loud judgemental words.
I have many what’s gone well moments this week. My company is awesome so far. They flown me here and booked me accommodation also are hosting me when are going to old Montreal tonight.
A few years ago a friend from South Africa invited us to a concert at UVic with an artist she loved. Great concert… after I invited the performer over to our home to record some of his stories. Such a kindred spirit. Here’s one of his stories.
The other night his songs came up on Spotify as some of my favourites for 2021. I texted the daughter of that friend and asked if she’s listened to Jeremy Taylor lately. Turns out she was just thinking of him. I sent her a Spotify playlist and some of the stories we recorded that night.. Synchronicity in action!
