It started with getting a notice that Andrew had joined Signal, a pre-eminent , quiet messenging app. Over 10 years ago we met outside a Fringe Festival event.
Tonight we compared notes about what changes we’re into now. I mentioned talking on the phone. He said it’s his favourite medium for interview in his job as a reporter. “Yep. As a reporter I still use the phone more than most people. Even my mom seems to prefer text. I like being able to hear tone of voice etc”

Had some kombucha scoby we didn’t need. Tried to sell it for a few days with no takers. Wanting to move it along we put in on FreeCycle and within a few minutes someone responded. She came over promptly. I always wonder what people do with the free stuff they get from us.
After a few minutes she said it was great to see my laughter and smiles about my classroom time, as many teachers don’t, when they recall their career. I’ve been asked many times about my teaching. This recalling was parrticularly touching and gratifying.
Connecting the dots in our ‘hood
We walked to the store, met a retired carpenter who is renovating a condemned home which he’s moved into as a renter, a young woman with an electric scooter which she loves and can carry anywhere ( a step up from a longboard), Gillian, Joan’s neighbour about the new development in our ‘hood.
