A friend stopped responding to WeChats and emails, who normally responds promptly. We knocked on his door and stood our distance. Turns out all is well. His battery died on his phone, . and he just didn’t get around to emails. He thought the knock on the door was his battery delivery. .
We had a 90 minute far-reaching Zoom visit with a long time family friend we had not talked with in about 2 years, and now living in Massachusetts. It was an in-depth catch-up. Amazing how people adapt… and then the difference it makes.
I just had to share a lovely surprise we had today. We haven’t seen anyone for days except for the servers who bring us something to eat three times a day, which we are very grateful for, but they are always in a rush as they have many more people to serve.
And today our Grandson phoned and said he and his wife were out in the parking lot. They were parked right under our balcony. We are on the second floor, so we could easily carry on a conversation with them. It was so great to see them and hear they were both working and things were going well for them.
Their daughter May is doing everything on line. Her school work and her singing lessons. So all was well with her. We were so grateful they dropped by and it was so nice to see them and to have a conversation with someone else besides ourselves.
Life is good.
With all of the concern for our elders in the nursing homes, our family has been impressed beyond all imagining at the magnificent care and detailed love provided for our dad, at a local retirement residence. Although we, his children, are not able to go inside the building (and we are grateful for this action to keep our precious and vulnerable old folks safe), my dad was moved into a suite with a glorious sea view. What’s more, we can stand below his balcony, and send him the safe kind of kisses.
Talking to a friend who is accompanying, guiding her adult daughter via app technology in her solo drive home across Canada. Remarkable innovative means of staying in touch, being a comforting presence in changing times.
We had a Zoom church service… sharing healing and inspiration from our study in Christian Science last night. It took a lot of work to get it together but there was a lovely feeling bringing some people together this way.
