I got to celebrate my dad’s birthday with him last night. I had a really lovely evening and it made me stop and slow down for a moment. I thought about how much I appreciate him and I am so happy to be able to spend it with him.
Talking to your body – checking in saved me on the weekend.
I had a deadline for a manuscript so you can imagine how focused I was and excited to get my book finished. When I arrived to where I was staying an emotional event happened which could have upset me to a point I was not able to focus and anger could have set off the downward spiral of emotion. I did feel a uncomfortable pang – then decided I would be myself and I checked in with my body after that decision and all was good.
I attribute this to having Fallen in Love with Myself in September – the old me would have been a puddle on the floor! – The new me sang from the top of the Mountain. I will post on Monday the short story of how I fell in Love with Myself (for those who are interested )
We went to Pender Island for a celebration of life. On the way we stopped at the Farmers’ Market on Pender and Wayne, a stranger to me, started talking and found we were going to the same celebration. Here’s his story
My mom is training to walk the TC10k. Recently she mentioned she finds it difficult to train after work as she wants to go for a walk but it’s dark and isolated where she wants to walk so she doesn’t feel safe. I told her to pick an evening this week and I’d go with her so she had someone to walk with. Tonight we walked a 12.8 km loop up Bear Mountain and back. It took us almost three hours. I had a great time visiting with my mom and trying to keep up with her! I treasure this time with her. We’re definitely going to do the walk again 😀
I was looking into the history of this local mall for a school assignment, so I entered the mall and approached a woman working in an unbusy wedding gown alterations place. She not only told me some interesting and relevant things but, clearly dissatisfied with her own level of helpfulness, she insisted on getting my number so she could call some people who might know more and report back to me the next day – which she did, and it was perfect! This total stranger was eager to go out of her way to help – and in a way that had zero to do with her business.
Sweet moment…. the great benefit of engaging with strangers.
Just over a week ago I was visiting friends. We had been shopping, and I was taking the cart back inside the store where we got it. I caught my foot on a mat and fell heavily to the floor. I assured everyone that I was fine as I got up. I did not mention the fall to my friends who were waiting in the car. I assured myself that I was fine and had never been outside Gods care. My right ankle was very sore and swollen. The next day was the day I would fly home. I needed to be able to walk through several airports pulling luggage. I held to the fact that I was well. By morning I was able to walk normally. In fact I had to run through the Denver airport as my connection there was very short. I was the last person on board but I made it. It was a very good day.
