Spent 90 minutes with students from the Institute for Global Solutions. We were preparing the students for a Community School Interview. We had about 40 students learning how to ask great questions, to build meaningful conversations, and draw out stories from strangers.
So impressed with a nurturing big sister of about 8 yrs of age I saw at an elementary school. She picked up her 3 yr old brother so he could get a better look at the Hallowe’en display and talked to him about Hallowe’en. She was so attentive and loving!
While story catching at a conference I heard a new story of a tradition in Victoria, Movie Mondays. A heartfelt life changer.
Coming out of the UVic Chapel, I ran into an acquaintance at UVic and after talking to him for a few minutes he realized he didn’t have a cardboard box he had on the bus. As I had my bike I rode to the Loop and, found the bus and the package. A few minutes later he got there as well, and we continued to walk towards his office, talking about his fascinating projects. A couple of days later I again met him a play. We celebrated how cool the moments we shared were that day, including the video I recorded about his work, which he as shared extensively.
Met Doug at the Bay. So impressed with his longevity in sales… He was talking to grown children of previous clients. Loved his can-do attitude and knowledge of his product. Where others hemmed and hawed, Doug moved forward.
Went to a benefit at the Roxy Theatre. It was Mike Demers, the voice of Roy Orbison. It was a solo act that really captured the spirit and sound of Roy. The audience hung on every tune and story.
