Light bulbs guaranteed for 7 years, lasted less than 3 years. The store gave me the phone number to contact, along with the UPC code, and the manufacturer sent me a gift certificate for a replacement set of three..
A month later no gift card received but I still had the original packaging and the phone number to call. 800 555 0050 They will check further into this. So glad I had this WGWT post to give me more specifics on the original call.
A few days later the Gift Card did arrive as promised. Good to have loose ends attended to.
As a #travelerinmyowntown we find kindred spirited strangers.. Today sitting at the back of the bus he came and sat beside me. He’s a former chef..now taking course work on helping addicts, and users.. perhaps aiming at Social Work. His courage to change was commendable. He too had been an addict.
Coming in from Swartz Bay on a dark and rainy night. I needed to get off at a specific stop part way along this milk run route, while often engaging in a number of interesting conversations with fellow passengers. ( It went far from the direct highway route.) The bus was packed and I was not close to a window.. and a stranger, who knew the route well became my guide, always aware, seemingly without looking, exactly where we were, and when it was the right time to ask to stop. He said he’s helped lots of people but no one’s thanked him before. #strangerinyourowntown
We took a young friend to an easter egg hunt. A young boy asked if we had found any yet and when we said no, he pointed to where an egg was. I have seen a lot of greedy, selfish easter egg hunts and this was so opposite. Our young friend teamed up with him and they climbed the hills and looked through the long grass at Moss Rock Park. Inspired by the example, our young friend gave away some of the eggs he found to others. I could see they felt so good about the way they were sharing with the other kids. So proud of themselves. Such a happy activity
Riding on a city bus in Vancouver opposite to a young mom feeding her 11 month old some banana. I asked how long he had nursed ( “still”), mentioned some economic benefits, If she knew about La Leche League (LLL). She had never gotten around to attending a monthly meeting.. but knew one was coming up in 6 days, and was considering attending. We talked about the challenge of going to group of strangers.I mentioned the rare opportunity of folks who were so child-centred and supportive. She loved getting the nudge, especially when we touched on more of the benefits. I gave her my card and said that Loni was still a LLL leader and would welcome her calls/ questions if she didn’t get to the meeting herself.
Had a phone call with my brother. We don’t talk that often. We had so many laughs … about teaching, parents, tutoring and working outside of teaching. He reminded that when he was in his 20’s he worked for me.
