Went to the Belfry’s B4Play this morning. The best way of my ‘catching’ stories was people recommending I ask a friend of theirs. The results were rich, and heart warming.
When I took our car in to a service garage a 7 yr old was there because she hadn’t felt good at school, so she was hanging out with her mother who worked in the front office. After a while the girl asked to come behind the desk at the front. I asked her if she wanted to learn a game ( nim). She was clever, logical and charmingly bold. We played a few games and now she has a game she can teach her mom and her own friends.
While up-grading a suite in my house, I thought that it really deserved a better TV. When some friends came over to help me move furniture, one mentioned that a mutual friend was looking for a new home for her old TV, since she just got one with a larger screen. I talked to her about it, and she was happy just to have it out of her basement. So – more phone calls, and a nephew said he could get it from her soon and would bring it to me. This all happened the next day, and we found it to be very nice and fit a table in the room, so there was another thing that “went very well”. As my somewhat grumpy aunt used to say “things are so good I can hardly keep from smiling.”
I helped a co-worker out of a rut in a product development project by suggesting collaboration and . . . Ideas that might normally be thought of as “crazy” to help get the creative vibe going.
I was feeling unmotivated to cook myself healthy food.
I’ve been cooking dinners for a vegan friend recently and it have me back my joy and motivation for healthy fresh foods! Win win
A friend recommended a wonderful movie, “Miss Potter.” We organized a potluck dinner for 20 around that movie and another shorter, spiritual piece. New connections and collaborations came from this, along with many heartfelt conversations. The movie, including the DVD notes was excellent.
