What’s Gone Well Today ® at School
What’s Gone Well Today at School is a question, in fact a movement designed to shift our thinking, to bring out the best in our own experiences at school, with the friends and new faces in our classes . We’re encouraging students and teachers to share experiences that have gone well. We hope that people will find more highlights in their day, and share what they are enjoying in their learning and playing at school.
I had an awesome week! We got to play with chalk pastels and oil pastels to recreate Emily Car’s portraits. Before we came to school on Monday, we got to have fun on Hallowe’en! we got chocolate bars, chips, marshmallows that look like pumpkins and ghosts, and 1 can of root beer. It was one of the best Hallowe’en’s ever! Also I sent a letter to Reberto Luongo from the Vancouver Canucks and he sent back to me on Nov. the 3rd and enclosed was a autographed picture of him and aswell as a well written letter that said it is very rewarding to be on the Canucks to have people like me sending him fan mail.. Our Characters were writing about where the live in the world. My character lives in Toronto Canada. His favourite part about Toronto is the CN Tower. he thinks it is a miracale how they made it.
I Had a Fantastic Week!
Wow! What an amazing week.We got to use chalk pastels and we drew a picture from a book by Emily Carr.We used the sides of the pastels to blend the colours together.I really liked it because it was messy and the colours were popping out at me. We wrote about our characters and my character’s name is Bob Williams. We wrote about where in the world our characters live.My character lives in Las Vegas! He really likes flying all over the world, especilly going to France or Italy for breakfast in his private jet.
a lovely moment this week at school….a student who struggles terribly with tests was elated to tell me that she and her Grandmother had a new plan….she would go home every day and teach her Grandmother something new she learned in Biology that day:)
It has been a fantastic week. Mr. Picha delivered 75 pumpkins to our school so many classes got to carve them. Some of the older students helped the younger classes. Our class took them off the truck on a rainy day and then a few days later we washed them with cloths and buckets of hot water. We also made pumpkin prints using orange paint on styrofoam plates after carving a face design using pens. One of my classmates said that the year was going by way too fast.
This Has Been A Fantastic Week!
It was also a great week at school….we were working on IEPs and that was very consuming but I was able to make it to a student’s hockey game at the oval last Saturday and I loved being invited (he was one of my IEP students) ….for this student our team was able to determine that helping him become aware of his actions and giving him some positive strategies would really make a difference
Also, the assistant superintendent of schools came to my class to see what we were doing because my principal told him about how we are participating in ‘what went well today at school’……I had the website open on my computer behind my desk so I was able to show him some of the pictures…he was very excited about it!
We have a challenging child in our Sunday School class who could quickly stir things up. Today I took him for a walk, with a backpack of tools and assignments ( He’s 9). I called him my Young Night. It was a stunning 45 minutes together. He was so thoughtful and insightful. We had a few rounds of WGWT. The first thing he said was, “This walk” We talked about three Bible stories where characters never died. When he got back to class someone saw him and said he was different, peaceful, helpful.
Later we had a couple of classes come to our home for a Hallowe’en party. Treasure hunt, dunking for apples included. They loved the dunking. They did it repeatedly.
