In fact, right now I am wonderfully mired in coaching the most successful senior boys basketball team the Spartans have had in a long while. And since my son is playing a considerable role on the team. I’m giving everything I have to it.
A truly unique opportunity. Talk about win-win-win-win
Yesterday, the sun was shining and it was a lovely day. My family went hiking at the Sooke Potholes Provincial Park. We parked our car in Lot 3 then walked along the river trails. Some of trails can be steep and some rocks which are near the river are slippery. At the bottom of hill, we followed the trail through the forest and then climbed up onto these rocks, we saw the water was very swift.
On our hike, we talked about some interesting things and shared some personal experiences. We had a wonderful Family Day.
I liked this feeling of breathing in the fresh air, simple and free.
Traveling today. Four airports in 16 hours. Peaceful, competent, mostly timely airport staff. A funny thing happened though. At 4am at the first airport, the first security’s person stared at my boarding pass and passport for a couple of long minutes. Then looked at me, and let me through. Sitting waiting to board I thought to look at my boarding pass and discovered I was now Priority Business class and a man named Robert. But wait…the name on the card was partly mine, and would have taken me to Florida:) Glad I caught the error and had them issue me another pass- in the “rabble” section!
Good day so far though. Two more flights to go.
Airport terminals are a great place to pause and find a moment that’s gone well. Paying attention to details in our day / jounrey always helps.
The simple things: walking to school today with my young daughter… her small hand slipping into mine. Walking in companionable silence… the warm sunshine on our faces.
Talked to a friend with dementia who had moved to a senior’s residence with this wife who soon passed on. He sounds happy in his new setting.”I have no complaints.” Everything is setup for his success. Simple and accessible systems, including technology that will never have him feeling lost. He has found a female friend, a retired teacher, he enjoys spending time with. Everyone deserves to find what they need.
