What’s Gone Well Today? ®
Here’s an easy way to recognize others… and in turn change how we look at our day, and our life.
When has someone made your day with the service they’ve given, or something they’ve said or done for you? Sharing these moments may inspire others. They lift the spirit!
On another note asking someone What’s Gone Well Today? ®, becomes life-changing. Conversations have a fresh, inspiring perspective.
In the larger picture our tools help individuals and organizations become more empathetic. We would love to hear from you! Please share an experience that’s gone well in your day.
Yesterday, with the strongest wind and rain in ages happening in Victoria, I had an appointment to get my car worked on and tested. I phoned the Emergency Service number on the card I got with my car some years ago, and within 10 minutes a Totem Tow truck was here with a pleasant driver who had the right kind of new battery and installed and tested it. Then I had to drive it around and check other things for awhile with another person who seemed too young to check anything! So with wipers going full speed we drove all around Victoria, through large road puddles where I’d never seen them before, and everything was OK.
Much cause for gratitude all round.
After busing on a very wet and windy day to pick up something yesterday from a friend’s house, I turned to walk back to the bus stop to return home. I changed my mind and walked to Oak Bay Village, past a creek that was running joyously. I went to the library / seniors centre and asked people about stories they have heard from their grandparents, or shared with their grandchildren. People really liked the idea, and a group of middle schoolers had lots to say that involved their grandparents’ experience with Justin Trudeau or his family.
People at bus stops and on the bus had some wonderful stories to share. I talked with people working at various centres about the idea as well.
I went to shoot some interviews with my tripod-camera and found I was missing a camera mount. I was still able to record, but do need the part. I thought about the last time I used it ten days ago, and messaged the person I shot a earlier interview about. She did have it, and left it in her mail box for me to pick up.
Lions Gate Bridge in Vancouver with its three lanes of traffic can be a snarl. Each time we approached it yesterday, the middle lane changed direction so we had two lanes instead of one. That really helped traffic flow in our busy day.
Dinner conversation with our cooperative dinner group. Good food, lessons, insights, and opportunities we can use for an upcoming weekend in Vancouver.
Remembrance day… looking back at friend’s help
Talking to a vet of Korean War on the bus. Years after returning from this war, he found himself taking a course that required some basic math. He had only gone to school up to grade 6. He had a very bright and patient roommate who kept helping him with the math until he ‘got it.’ He found ways to help his friend later..
