On the way we passed a condo developed heated by geothermal. How encouraging!
Talked to a stranger sitting a row ahead of me on the ferry. My lead question, “What is your draw to Vancouver?” lead to an hour long, fabulous chat about work, change, rebounding, spouse’s supporting qualities ( being chill and floating when challenges arose) and the power of authentic conversation in business. One of my best conversations I’ve had.. made my trip. He wrote me back after driving to Kelowna saying that he had thought about what we talked about the whole 6 hour drive.
Our daughter offered to be my ‘gym buddy’ so I signed up at her gym. A supportive and expansive experience.
Sharing is a wonderful help! I am up in Kelowna with my sister and feel the love, caring and support that encourages better thoughts and ideas.
Again I am grateful for your caring and show of support.
This month she came back much more alive and said she was working as a clerk. I asked what her passion was — ‘an interest in sustainability and growing her own food.’
20 minutes later a fellow, Nigel, came up to me to say hello, on his way to meet some friends in the pub. He and I had a common friend that he was meeting. He told me that the meeting was of engineers who had met at university and get together to share ideas.
I went back to the woman and asked what job she’d love to do. She said she was trained as an environmental engineer. I asked if she’d like to meet these thoughtful and friendly engineers.
I went downstairs, found my friend’s group ( of all guys) and asked if she could join them. There were all inviting.( and said it would help the gender balance ). I went and said how open they were to joining the discussion. It was a super fit. She came back a half hour later to get her backpack and said they were talking about urban permaculture, which she was so interested in.
On my way to another event I passed by a fellow with a young girl carrying a rake. He introduced himself, saying that we had me at Green Drinks. It was Nigel. He pointed out where he lived and I shared a story of how my daughter started off her ‘handiness’ with helping install toilets. I later met his wife. Lovely exchange.
