Patience. There are no lost opportunities
Three people inquired about renting a room for a few days with us, and for one reason or another, they chose not to confirm a reservation. This morning we got an inquiry from Switzerland for a 3 month booking, that we were able to confirm later in the morning. If the earlier bookings had come through, this longer term rental would have been impossible.
Seamless conversations
The flexibility of public transit!
Getting a ride to a coffee shop, to talk with other friends then be able to leave when I wanted to by catching a bus home seamlessly.
On the second leg of my journey, one of the passengers turned out to be working on his PhD in Geography: Economic impact of tourism in Africa. My next driver use a sense of humour to make his day, his work more feasible, more doable. He said it was essential. It was a pleasure to see.
Checking out our thought
I met a soft-spoken man at Our Place whose main goal is spiritual growth and reflection. He keeps a notebook to record his “skills” along this line. Daily he checks out his THOUGHT to see what negativity can be removed and what spiritual qualities could be strengthened. For example, he made a conscious decision not to play games involving chance. I would say that man is doing a wonderful job of learning to truly love himself as an idea of God, Good.
New ways to attract customers…
I was inquiring at a hardware store about an upcoming sale on LED lights, a promotion by BC Hydro. They mentioned this was happening in April. Another store told me that if I bought them now and kept my receipt that I could be given the sales’ discount in April. These are 65 watt pot lamps that run on 9.5 watts. It’s been Remarkable to see the evolution of LED technology. So far beyond CFGs
Cycled to Oak Bay for a lovely walk and visit. Before leaving Oak Bay I dropped in on the hardware store and inquired about their LED selection. On the way back I saw a UVic bus heading through the intersection ( and I wanted to bus back to campus). I was able to catch it after a few blocks, cycling down the driver’s side of the bus. He said that was a good thing as he might not have seen me otherwise.
Sitting in the back of the bus, I asked a fellow where he was in his education.’Taking my masters in Sociological and Political Thought.’ That sparked a great conversation which included discussion about an arts course called “Creative Being” whereupon a fellow on the other side of me joined in and added new info about the course, and the prof who’s helped shape it.
Great trip all around!
A rocking chair we were giving away was finally picked up this morning after almost a month.
