imagine a sleighride in the snow to a teepee with a fire and a guy playing his guitar singing Country folk songs that I knew all the words to?? ….Country Road…..a highlight for sure and the stars were so bright and amazing!! a little cold….oh well…sooo good!!
I was cleaning the kitchen after dinner. The news came on and I suggested changing it to listen to some inspiring talks, about applying healing ideas. So in that cleanup time we got to hear life-changing/ saving shifts of thought. Love having a choice in our sources of input.
A friend from Japan took the initiative in asking about watching the sunrise on New Year’s Day from a mountain top, a cultural tradition in Japan. We will do that.

We left 30 minutes to get down to Granville Island from Kerrisdale in Vancouver on a busy Saturday afternoon to see a 2:00 show. Driving down the traffic was dense. Coming onto Granville Island the cars were bumper to bumper. Driving that day I’d been impressed with some of the driving that I’d seen. ie The steadiness of speed, the thoughtfulness of some drivers letting me change lanes, A traffic commissionaire who was flexible in my leaving by the entrance ( against the flow) etc. I drove slowly through Granville Island and in one of the free lots I saw someone leaving, and then saw even a second free space.
About 9:30 PM Christmas Eve I went for a walk down Oak Bay Ave from Foul Bay to Beach Drive, after a big meal. It was virtually empty, and beautiful. It reminded me of main street , Courtenay, a town of about 50 000. It was serene.
Went for a bike ride but the store was closed ( 2 days off.. great for the staff)
Phoned a friend to record the successful ‘ratting’ they do on their farm. An earlier chat with him helped dissuade a friend from raising her own chickens in her back yard. Lined up a video interview with two of the ratting team.
Went to coffee shop and did some thoughtful writing and reading. Talked to a young woman about her journaling ( helps sort out ideas for her.) Their playlist included Paul Simon’s “Cathy’s song” which I hadn’t heard in a long time. Really contributed to the moment. The clerk at first said my cash card was insufficient for my hot chocolate, but then corrected himself and said there was a 1.31 balance. He corrected himself so graciously.
Went to the grocery store to weigh my letter and the clerk, Andrea, recognized me from my last teaching year. Life and Career Planning. While she didn’t remember anything much from my class except the portfolio’s I remember it with appreciation. It was such a fun year.
