Elizabeth May responding to the question, ” What are the pros and cons of being a green politician?” Great to hear a politician talking about feeling ‘liberated’ and thinking what is the best for her constituents.

Talking to people at CRA helped clarify some questions I’ve been wondering out wrt my taxes. I appreciated their positive approach.
“I learnt how to (ask) proper questions in the real world, not to waste time with yes or no. I noticed the speakers confidence and enthusiasm, it really helped to boost mine. What surprised me is that actual leaders are being brought in to talk to us. I will use what I heard by not asking yes or no questions, but by asking simple questions with a great response. This experience was different from any other guest speaker because he put us on the spot, not just let us hide in the background. It was a great experience.”
“Today in this presentation, the main thing I learned was how to ask great questions. For instance don’t ask simple questions. Ask questions that are interesting and the listener would’ve never expected you to ask. I also learnt that when you ask a question, maintain eye contact and speak with a clear voice. When your asking questions, get the most out of questions by asking challenging questions that will make the listener think. Lastly the most important thing I learnt would be never stop asking questions, wherever you are.”
“This is different, because most speakers usually talk about being motivational, or works that they’ve done, but instead, he talked about asking questions that you’re more interested about.”
“I was surprised by how energetic the speaker was. I felt that it was a very important presentation and that I will be using this to learn deeper in class. I found this was different than the other guest speakers because the speaker had more energy than the others that I have heard in my life. ” To read More…

She happily accepted, and then opened to conversation with me. Should I ever need this advice, she insists: if you ever have pants that you love but that become slightly too big to fit, a base layer of tights will surely solve the dilemma!
I’m not sure I will need her advice on this, but at the very least, it was a delightful exchange between 2 strangers willing to offer help 🙂
