What’s Gone Well Today? ®
Here’s an easy way to recognize others… and in turn change how we look at our day, and our life.
When has someone made your day with the service they’ve given, or something they’ve said or done for you? Sharing these moments may inspire others. They lift the spirit!
On another note asking someone What’s Gone Well Today? ®, becomes life-changing. Conversations have a fresh, inspiring perspective.
In the larger picture our tools help individuals and organizations become more empathetic. We would love to hear from you! Please share an experience that’s gone well in your day.

When we wait on God
John and I are planning some house renovations. The plans were exciting and we were looking forward to starting the entire project very soon. But wait…. the architect found out that where we live, because of zoning, the outside portion of our plans has to go before the Variance Committee. This would not normally be a problem, except that the Variance Committee does not sit in the summer, and so the earliest that we could do that portion would be in October.
Instead of getting all upset about it, we just adjusted, and decided that the best option was to divide the project into two stages – the inside work now, the outside work in October. As it turns out, that option is working out much better for us … but wait, there’s more. We have a little family of raccoons living under our deck. By the time the outside portion begins, she will be long gone and the babies grown, so their needs are being met too.
Then John and I looked at the project again and thought that actually we would divide the project into THREE stages. Because winter would be coming fast upon us by October, it would be better to delay the building of the upper balconies on top of the new extended roof until next Spring. Today as I sat in my office, I realized that we had a family of birds nesting in the exact place where we would have been building the decks and balconies has we done it this summer, and we can encourage them to find a new nest next Spring.
So.. in God’s holy plan for all creation, every member is cared for, from the tiny baby bird, to the mamma raccoon and her family, and is naturally extended to us. Our home is a neighborhood, we sometimes forget that in our haste to “make improvements” or evict unwanted neighbors.
Yesterday I saw the mamma raccoon and her babies, and I felt such an understanding of her, mother to mother. She stood there so proudly with her young, yet so alert and protective. “I know that feeling”, I thought. She looked at me, and waddled off with her young, and I was so happy that she is my neighbor – albeit a growly one!! In my office, I listen to the baby birds squawking for their food, and i know that all is well in our neighborhood.
So, God’s plan for our neighborhood, embraces all of us, and cares for each and everyone of us, right down to the blade of grass. No exceptions! No homelessness. It pays to listen, and not react.
What’s gone well today? A walk along the Songhees with 17 friends. Conversations. My most recent learning, only because I’m a slow learner I guess, is that it’s worth learning the art of saying just enough, no more, no less. Can’t say I’ve mastered it, but I’m working on it!
I’ve realized that it does no good to look back on things you wished you’d done differently, what you’ve got to do, is to just leave it all to God. Once I did this, I found that everything was healed up perfectly. And it made me smile. I’m very grateful.
Today I had the best time driving with my friend to a writing retreat with a third friend. The conversation in the car was so thought-provoking. It was really great because I was able to take a problem which was really causing anguish to a spiritual level and see what my responsibility in this particular situation is. So I am a calm and delighted person this afternoon.
Learning about permaculture from a friend who supplies info, inspiration and materials.
Yesterday I found a bin of balls of alfalfa that were about to be tossed.. Just right for mulching.
I continue to be inspired by the WGWT moments that I read on this site, and the responses I get when I ask people that I meet.
I’ve been revisiting favourite books on the journey… and found some great quotes for this process. Here’s one

Life has been going along quite well. I’m a month into an entire website re-design for seafun.com (the whale watching company I recently began driving zodiacs for) and just finally about to get the new site live this week. I’ve had to muster a lot of creativity, marketing and group leadership skills to pull this project together. It will be nice to finish and see some new web traffic 🙂
