I felt due for a replacement of my 14 year old snowboard and after looking at end-of-season sales I chose one from Ski Tak Hut, a long-time local shop in Courtenay.
After chatting with the sales person I realized the price they were quoting was much less than advertised and asked about it. They said there were limits to how deep of a discount they were allowed by the manufacturer to advertise but were free to charge whatever price they wanted in-store.
As the board was so new they asked me to bring my old setup in to check in my bindings worked, managed to adapt them, talked to me about my goals, and set it up for me in all of 10 mins or so.
Amazing service.
An elderly family friend wanted to sell some furniture so I offered to put an ad on Marketplace, something I have never done. This was not simple or straight forward process in trying to set up viewing times and to meet the people at the friend’s senior home. The first two inquiries turned out to be scams which was such a disappointment, finally a couple of days later someone wanted to view the furniture so arrangements were made for the following afternoon, the following morning the people called and cancelled, I was so grateful they did call to let me know they weren’t coming.
In the meantime that same morning another inquiry came through, when I saw the name I was hesitant because of the two scam inquiries had similar type names, I had to take a moment to pray on how I would respond, I answered the inquiry and they wanted to view the furniture that afternoon which I already had arrangements in place. When I met this young couple, they were so sweet, thoughtful, polite, just lovely people as soon as they saw the furniture, it was a yes but they asked to pick it up at the end of the month, so the seller agreed that if they put a deposit down that would be fine, which they did.
Three weeks later, a few days before the end of the month I hadn’t heard anything from them, again I had to pray that everything was okay, I finally heard from them the last day of the month, they wanted to pick up the furniture the next day so I quickly had to make arrangements with the seller and the seniors home, they have rules about moving furniture you need to work with. Everything went so smoothly and everybody was happy with it all!
Not sure I want to do that again but the main thing is it turned into a good experience for all for which I was most grateful!
A year ago when I needed to get in our meeting room at UVic, I had to find someone with a key. Today I looked around and found this card activated opener/ Was it always there? Either way… I love discovering new ‘access points’ in my day that fit the resources I already have.
walked into the Apple Store with only 15 mins to closing, and asked if I still had time to buy a new phone. The employee said no problem and quickly located the one I’d asked for, looked at his watch and said “Maybe I shouldn’t do this with so little time left, but how happy are you with your phone plan?” then put together an offer for me with 2.5x the amount of data (at a higher speed) with $720 off the immediate purchase price, and waived the setup fee. Such amazing service.
