I asked for some help when trying to use an unfamiliar/different machine to pay for what I had purchased and leave a tip. The person behind the counter tried to say ‘for sure’ and ‘of course’ but it came out a bit mushed together. They apologized, but I said not a problem, the two together merely emphasized their willingness to help & I knew what they meant to say. Then, saying to myself ‘for sure’ and ‘of course’ together, abbreviated if you like, it comes out as ‘for course’ . . . which then lead me to think of ‘four course’ – as in a four course meal. Shared this with them, and we both started to laugh. Playing with words and phrases with someone is a treat and this was an unexpected pleasure, besides being able to easily pay my bill.
Lovely visit with a granddaughter
My granddaughter stayed for the weekend, we went for a lovely walk on the trail with my friend and her golden retriever who likes to carry her hot pink bumper in her mouth. My granddaughter just loved the dog, she is so gentle and sweet, she is not disturbed by other dogs at all, she just walks on by them.
Later that day, my granddaughter asked to play a game, in all the years of having her she has never suggested playing a game so I was thrilled to and we had fun!
We live in a lovely quiet rural area with lots of trees, last week the challenge was to have a lot of patience and loving thoughts for our neighbor! On Monday, he had all the trees taken down along both sides of his driveway so we had chain saws going all day long, then from Tuesday to Sunday, he ran a small bobcat from morning to night cleaning up all the branches and timber. Of course, during this time, we had those lovely warm days which you would normally love to spend outdoors but we found other things to do, we also had plans for an outdoor visit with our friends which we enjoyed regardless of the noise next door. I’m so grateful to have it quiet again, I do miss seeing the trees but it is much lighter which will probably be nice in the winter!
