When a friend’s furnace was being unreliable they phoned Charlie at Active Gas. He got back to them and brainstormed some steps they could take on their own. Turned out their furnace filter was clogged.
Called the police about a neighbourhood traffic disturbance in the UVic parking lots, with students driving crazily around. They attended, cleared it up, and phoned me back to tell me how it went. Loved hearing the officer’s sense of accomplishment in his voice.

Ran into a problem that many have been hit with. Photoshop says the program’s license has expired. It’s a glitch but many of the posted solutions didn’t work. One, posted originally about 2009 did. Two hours later.. success! It required me working at a new level of programming scripts. Thanks to Linus Neumann.
I asked the customer ahead of me if he wanted to claim his ‘Jamie Oliver’ stamps. He said he didn’t, but also wouldn’t consider giving his allotted ones to me. When we made our purchase the cashier gave us his anywhere. This gave up enough stamps to make up for a paring knife we needed. So sweet, in a very low key way.
We needed to get rid of our box spring. I posted it on FreeCycle and a friend came and picked it up almost immediately. They have been quick to pick up on other things we’ve given away. Glad it met a need. It was done so quickly. Apparently if the delivery service has to take it away to be recycled, it costs us $20.
