Took two new-to-Victoria friends to Swan Lake. It was my first time on the dock . It was beautiful.
Time for a moon watch. The supermoon eclipse drew people out of their homes. We walked up Mt Tolmie. Such expectancy and community! The people scene was more interesting than the moon which was hidden by clouds for some time. When we returned home we got our best views from the end of our street and met a favourite neighbour who we rarely see.
Solved glitch which prevented me from using Safari and Dropbox. Talking to Apple Support didn’t help. Two days after spending about two hours on this, I got an idea about clearing the proxies and when I turned them off in Preferences, everything worked. It was stunning.
Met Jason when I knocked on a neighbour’s door and asking if they wanted the apples on their tree. Turned out they had taken what they needed and wanted to give the rest away. The conversation turned to a passion of his…. creating garden installations.
After seeing his creations and listening to his ideas I asked if Leonardo DaVinci was a hero of his. Turns out he has his name as a tattoo on his leg.
Had a meeting, a conversation with a UVIC prof and program head that I had on my radar for 6 months. A colleague at UVic offered to set it up, and it took until yesterday to line up. It touched on so many themes that I have been working on. It was very promising and heartfelt exchange.
