Finding inspiration on a bus..
Imagine a time when you want to get a bit more inspiration in life so you decide to look for it on the bus.
I took the number 4 bus back from downtown to campus. At first the front area was quiet, no engagement but by the end of the ride I’d talked substantially with three passengers. All with positive comments about transit, or their life pursuits..
One was a first year education music student who said his ‘passion rating’ about music was 9/10. Another was a Master of Social Work student whose earlier work was with street and homeless people.
She later posted on #travelerinyourowntown, ‘My passion rating for working with Humans is a 10/10 .’
I noticed the bus driver on that same bus repeatedly giving his passengers a break: if he saw someone running for the bus , he’d wait; he had kind comments to passengers. I noted his supportive, caring style. He said,”I keep it simple. I treat people the way I would want to be treated. I’ve been driving too long to get stressed.”
Superior customer service
Two years ago I bought a bike light system for Loni’s bike. When I got around to assembling it, it got too complicated and I delayed. Then when I took another crack at it, there was a switch cover that was missing. I took it back to the bike shop and talked to the owner who said he’d write his supplier and get another one to replace it. A month later I contacted him again to get a progress report. He was surprised that this had not been taken care of, and phoned me the next day saying it was now in, just bring my ‘old’ light in for a free exchange.
When I got there a repair guy at the front desk went through the bag with all the parts I was returning and pulled out another expensive rear light and asked if I was returning this as well. I had been looking for that amazing light for a couple of months! I had even gone through the bag recently and didn’t see it.
Chorus of angels
…
A friend texted me that her 7 mo. babe was not feeling well. I wrote that she and he were surrounded by a chorus of angels.
An hour later she wrote that when she took him to a walk-in clinic other mothers and their daughters started adoring her son and tried to make him feel better. Another quite animated woman came over and showered him with compliments and the babe loved it. Then the receptionist was so kind. “So far it’s been quite a chorus.”
A vastly superior Plan B
An unsatisfactory arrangement with a previous designer saw him quitting about the time that he was supposed to have completed the job. So I asked a developer friend for a recomendation for a draftsperson. The next day he referred someone, who is experienced and right on top of communication, and is willing to do all conferring by email, at an affordable price. This will save a lot of time. Dependable communication and quality work! So appreciated.
First of all, this is a really nice group & I enjoy reading everybody’s what went well. Here’s a little story that happened last week that warmed my heart.
To start it off, I work at Boston Pizza & I’ve been working there for a year and a half now. One day I opened up our menu & I wrote in it “be happy” and my two other co-workers were beside me, and I decided to add “love mom” so in this random menu it read “be happy love mom smile emoticon ” (smiley face and heart included) Another thing you should know, is that one of my coworkers works at a dance study part time as well. She teaches kids 13 and younger.
Alright, now to the present. I was taking the bus to my school & I am so in the routine with taking another bus it didn’t even phase me that I was on the wrong bus! (Which was the 28) my co worker, Alyssa/friend who is awesome, the one who teaches dance, happened to be on the bus as well! She was all excited and telling me that the most amazing thing happened at work the day before.
One of her dance students lost her mom 3 years ago- when she was only ten years old. And every year, her family and her go out to a different restaurant on the day her mom passed to honour her passing. This year, they decided to go into Boston Pizza, and you may see where this is going now, but what happened was out of all the menus in the restaurant, not only was she given the menu that I wrote “be happy love mom” but she apparently just opened the menu and saw this. She broke down crying but with a sense of happiness and she went up and told Alyssa. I can’t even imagine being so young having lost my mother, looking all day for a sign and coming across something that says “be happy, love mom.”
Although I had written it, every part of me believes that was her mom’s energy or soul, that most definitely brought her this menu, and aligned the moment perfectly. It made me feel so happy, and I am not religious, I’d consider my self spiritual, I had faith that someone is looking out for us, whether it’s our mom, a God, or just the universe. I love stories like this beautiful coincidences and I most definitely will not forget. I love the way things align so beautifully at times.
After we bought the Condo we still had our lease for the house at 2700 per month. So since October they have been trying to re-rent it. We have still been paying the lease rent hoping that eventually before the last day of the lease it will be rented. Just got the call that It is now rented. So that is a nice way to enter spring.
