Took on driving around Orange County near LA for the first time on our own. The directions I took from Google Maps were very helpful, and I only had to resort to GPS twice in our few days of driving. I was so pleased at how centrally located our ‘home’ was for the various activities we had lined up. It really was an adventure, and having a good navigator, who closely followed the direction steps was indispensable.
A friend recommended HotWire to book a rental car in California. I chose an economy size which later read only is for 2 adults with 1 suitcase. I conferred with my friend , an experience traveller and she assured us that we could make this work. We did get 4 in here.. and everyone had a carry-on luggage. It was just right for our needs.. and was economical in all ways, and fun to drive. The rental agent said it only had 2 doors, but it had 4.. It was a squeeze.. but a fun, collaborative one.
At a mall at Irvine, California I saw an affectionate couple.. and walked to meet them half way across the roadway saying,” If I took a picture of you, I’d tag it with “Love is in the Air.” I said, “I didn’t know where you were in your relationship but this is what I’m seeing.”
They laughed and said ‘It’s our first date.” I said I’d take a picture anyway. Luke asked me to send it to him. It was such a sweet moment on a very warm California evening.
