Persistence with a vision
I waited patiently–or not so patiently depending on the day–for an opportunity to shift my career focus within my company. After three years, a job that I thought I would love, finally looked like it would become available within one year. I asked the director questions about it; I expressed my interest to everyone involved; I read newsletters from the associations; I spent time with people in the business just to learn what they do. When I could finally apply for the job, I was not sure I was the best candidate but I knew that I was a darn good candidate.
There was no abrupt change in the process of me being hired to take on this directorship. But here was the turnaround: my open intention to assertively covet this job. First, I had investigated enough to know I could be good at this job over time; therefore, I felt confident. Second, because I had expressed my intention from the start, those with the decision-making power had had ample time to evaluate me as a viable candidate. Third, I had nothing to lose. If I was not chosen for this job, I knew I was a good candidate for the next job, and that I would seek something else if not this. Lori

From “Tiny Buddha”
An audience is building. A tiny voice says, “Keep going.” It’s the voice of a different self. One who knows it’s all going to work out. ]
Turnarounds!
This year has been full of turnarounds! I think it has been helpful to step aside and get out of my own way and just say yes to challenges as they come.
The biggest turnaround for me would be having the courage to apply for a job that I really wanted but didn’t meet all the requirements. I was close! I went for it…. I worked hard and interviewed the best I could …. And I got it 🙂
Something I learned…
I happened to find some old cassettes a few days ago, home recordings which were unlabeled and found a beloved one with my family and friends performing many familiar selections some voice some violin and mandolin; even an accordion. One selection was particularly interesting,it was a friend singing in her beautiful coloratura voice a song my mother had taught her in another language. Although we were good friends somehow our lives went in different directions for quite some time; we just lost track of each other. Well today I received a call from her. We had a lovely visit by telephone. We had both been thinking about each other at the same time and somehow were able to pick up where we left off years ago.

A father’s legacy.. starting fresh
A band’s existence is a testament to a large strong happy family, a love of music, a fresh start after their father’s passing in Ontario, a deep appreciation for their father’s great music teaching .
