‘Hi .. Conversation Changes Lives’ Book Blog
“Hi” is a wealth of information that will encourage you, entice you, to take the first tentative steps to engage with others, to develop a sense of worth in one’s involvement with others, and with the community we share.
I highly recommend this treasure trove of practices, delightful story ‘snippets’, and compelling rationale for conversation. — Ken Annandale, Educator

An idea/ a practice that changed how Steven engages in conversation. Knowing how to conclude the interaction graciously adds to the experience for all.
I started your book. Love the idea of being a Traveler in Your Own Town.I should always be a traveler.. in my own house, own yard… own mind.
I’ve been asking a question to myself: What makes a life meaningful? I typically spend time contemplating the big ideas, the pursuit of happiness, competence, relationships, self-actualization, helping others… These ideas exist as figments in my imagination, and while they can serve a useful purpose in assisting my higher order goals, the day to day meaning in life can become overshadowed. In exploring Christopher’s ideas in my own life it has given me access to a more authentic, simple and meaningful connection with others. From waiting in line ups, to sitting in next to class mates, having a question ready such as: “what makes your life meaningful” sparks an instant curiosity and interest in the other. What I’ve learned in asking people this question is that compassion and acceptance are central tenants to what makes life meaningful. The content of the question almost doesn’t matter, what matters is the experience of feeling a bond between two people. We are as much unique as we are the same.

I do love wearing their shoes
Met a political candidate at Green Drinks. He’s already doing a lot of door knocking these days. I mentioned my book and the work I’d done with another party. He wanted to buy the book, and I happened to have one in my backpack. There’s talk of my working with his volunteers so they can be more effective in talking with the public. The program is designed to ‘have a new conversation’ in our communities. Just because someone is well trained academically they may not be good talking to strangers.

We met in the front row of the Belfy Theatre. Our conversation grew from there. The ideas gleaned from that sharing, attending the book launch and reading your book all helped change my life.
