Spent some time with long time jazz musician, Jack Stafford who shared some great stories about Louis Armstrong – how musicians see and respond differently to life.
In this clip Jack talks about how Louis changed the course of music in America.
Helped open the doors of a local church to the community. This church has been a mystery for 50 years for some local residents. Tonight the Victoria Opera used it to showcase the launch of their school program’s Hansel and Gretel. Patrons loved the building.
Also worked with an elementary school class in their first steps onto WGWT at School. Students on line, act like water. They flow to the most unexpected places. Each student in the program has parent permission. Parents have also signed permission for student photos to be included on the site.
Later in the day I did some story catching for a UVic Food Sustainability forum. Wonderful to mix it up with a wide range of people about a topic of great passionate interest for them. While the topic may be about food, the questions also highlighted twists and turns, adventures and discoveries youth are taking in their developing careers.
Met a friend of my daughter’s who is an over-the-top caring fellow ( that’s positive) who is also gifted in tech. I look forward to more conversations with him, and capturing some of his stories and experiences to enrich us all.
In another instance while driving at night I took a moment before turning from the left lane to a side road and a car zoomed by on the right. Being protected is definitely a WGWT moment.
Green Drinks was full of connections. It’s great fun to see the mixing and matching that can happen in the room. Also helps to consistently attract really thoughtful, high performance folks who are open to talking to whoever is in the room, and always gracious when I pull them out of one conversation to talk with someone else who could be a great fit. Often surprised at who doesn’t know other interesting people in the room There’s something spectacular about finding common turf, experience, passions or focus. How soon after arriving we could find some great connections for people Everyone reported ‘getting their money’s worth’
Yet above all this a friend’s forgiveness of an IP misunderstanding was probably the biggest part of the day.
