A neighbour of ours who is unsteady on her feet fell while shopping at the local mall., The Wemberly Mall. A teenaged boy came and helped her up, used his cell phone to call for assistance to get her home, stayed with her until help arrived. She said thank you but in all the stressful excitement never got his name. She has just published the story and a thank you to the young man whoever he is in our local newspaper.
When Judy and I were going out together between 1960 -1963 we often went as a foursome with Dave & Marilyn. We attended their wedding in 1962 and they ours in 1963. We then moved and quickly lost track of them. Last month Marilyn found Judy via her facebook site and we have reconnected.
A similar event occurred over the Christmas season via the telephone. I person, Skye, who has been a long term friend of us both reconnected by phone (we always have a listed number) and then send us a letter with pictures of her two children.
I was working with three grade 6 teachers and their classes on our How Government Works interview series.. The teachers were highly focused, and the students attentive and curious. While the program was set originally to work with single classes at a time, the teachers came up with new strategies to give even quiet students a chance to reflect and share the questions for each speaker’s themes.
