I said goodbye to a friend at my front door, then took my son’s dog out in the back yard for a 5 minute play, then brought him in. As I was passing a front window I could see a man or a big boy asleep on my son’s flat-deck trailer in the front driveway. He certainly wasn’t there when my friend left, and I went out to chase him off. I went up to him and louder and louder tried to wake him up, but he didn’t stir. After a couple of minutes I came in and called the Saanich Police non-emergency number. The polite woman said she would send someone over.
Very shortly after 2 police cars were here. The policewoman in the first one came to my door and asked if I was all right, was anyone else home, were all the doors locked, and could she walk around the back. The uniformed man in the other car went to the sleeper and called loudly to him many times, with no result, then he pulled him up to sit, which woke him. Then he got him to stand up and patted him all over, then firmly walked him to his car and drove off with him. The woman officer assured me they would find out about him and it was very unlikely to happen here again, and complimented me on my nice garden.
I noticed that it was all over in five minutes, and very professionally handled.
I wanted to retrieve several possessions from the rented suite I have in my “lower level”, without spoiling the looks in it’s living room. So I started to politely mention this to the renter, who quickly said that she had just been given some of her mother’s items and would like to use them. So she brought up to my floor several items I wanted and started to place her newly-acquired ones. We are now both happy with what we perceive as our improved spaces.
Saturday morning gathering at a neighbours home. Very interesting conversation with those at the event and another chance to hear Murray respond to some good questions.
Finally got e-transfer of balance of money collected for school reunion. For a range of reasons it had been very difficult to finalize the transfers. It was new territory for someone who had just retired from a bank.
So appreciated this driver’s patience, persistence and flexibility
Rode past my daughter’s home early one morning to find a crane truck not able to unload its materials. I stopped and asked what the problem was. Their car needed to be moved to allow the truck access. I buzzed them and the car was moved. Although the wires at the front of the driveway were technically too low to operate the crane under, the driver safely ‘did what was necessary.’
Soaking up a few minutes of Oak Bay beauty before a dental appointment. Helps bring the peace wherever I find myself.
