What’s Gone Well Today? ®

Pat has worked at The Bay for eight years. She loves the staff in her department. When she is on holidays, she’s looking forward to being back at work. Her children say they don’t know anyone who likes their job more than her. With all that in play, it’s no wonder she gives great service. She was a real pleasure to meet.
Several worth-while short events one day on our recent Edmonton trip. My friend who sells metal (animal-proof) compost boxes wanted to visit the commercial compost yard in the industrial part of Edmonton. This was surprisingly big and busy when we were there with several trucks dumping residential, untreated compost from Stony Plain, a nearby town. On a large scale they screen, separate, heat, mix, then sell or give it to agricultural users. The manager, a large man from El Salvador, is our former neighbour.
Then on to a compost education centre in a park. Nice display of benefits of composting, suitable for school classes and home-owners.
So many story lines on the early morning beach. Impressed and touched by father-son conversation and sharing each morning. Simple, direct, sharing.
Honouring a friend who’s passed
At the beginning of this month, a beloved grandmother passed on. She was pretty central to the family who were feeling a bit up in the air since she had made it clear that she did not want a funeral. A “dinner” was suggested and agreed upon. So the local immediate family and 2 friends had a dinner. A crossword, word search and anagram puzzle were made, all about her life. So after dinner we did the puzzles in groups and talked about her. There were lots of laughs and happy remembrances. We finished with a the card game “99” which she had really liked. I am hoping this will have been one step on the road to healing for this dear family.
Went through my phone and found this clip I’d recorded a week earlier at Music Fest in Courtenay. It was such a heart felt story that I contacted the manager of Pied Pumpkin and shared the video. A couple of the band wrote back, touched by the memory.
“A wonderful memory of the special moments we all have shared and the special efforts that made them come to be!
big love

Adventures in Victoria with animals
We have house guests coming with a 5 year old. We wanted to have some suggestions of low budget activities for the girl and her mother. Her grandmother told me what she enjoyed doing. I posted a request on Facebook and got a number of suggestions that were new to me. I appreciated the sharing of fav spots and activities.
