Two out-of-towners meet
I watched as two strangers went swimming in the early morning. After, they began to talk, as a very respectful distance. I wanted to hear the story, so I approached Daniel later. It turned out to be a profound life marker for him for a number of reasons.
I should have made this interview in french. I was inconfortable with m’y english. Sorry for that.
Walking through different neighbourhoods is so delightful. People put so much soul into their properties. I called across the street on such a walk and commended this homeowner on the beautiful work he had done. He said, ” I needed that. Thank you!”
A young business couple told me a number of challenges they were facing. The next day I heard that each had been resolved, some in wonderful ways. Knowing ‘the Force’ is in play gives us a sense of peace as we move forward.
A friend at Green Drinks has an upcoming opportunity to attend the UN Climate Conference in Paris. After seeing this video she wrote,”Thanks so much, Christopher, for helping me to talk about the delegation to UN Climate Change Conference in a bigger way.”
Classroom Moment
Delightful moment as a grade 1 reframes a bookmark she’s given by a volunteer.
On Friday I had a great conversation from someone from the Education Technology Dept. at Royal Roads that helped me tremendously regarding my job search here in Victoria. Instead of narrowly focusing on k-12 teaching positions, she explained the wide array of options around education technology outside of a traditional teaching role along with leveraging my MBA in the process. She also connected me with an amazing educator/professor at UBC Okanagan that focuses on student innovative learning through design thinking and maker spaces http://innovativelearningcentre.ca/. This is the type of learning I’m passionate about: combining entrepreneurship, design thinking, while utilizing appropriate technology. I am really grateful for the time she spent with me after a long and busy workday. This is something I will keep in mind as I become established in my own career and make sure I pay it forward as well.
Each conversation can open our thought to new opportunities. When people feel that you are really listening they open up even more. You have a remarkable skill set.
