What’s Gone Well Today? ®
Here’s an easy way to recognize others… and in turn change how we look at our day, and our life.
When has someone made your day with the service they’ve given, or something they’ve said or done for you? Sharing these moments may inspire others. They lift the spirit!
On another note asking someone What’s Gone Well Today? ®, becomes life-changing. Conversations have a fresh, inspiring perspective.
In the larger picture our tools help individuals and organizations become more empathetic. We would love to hear from you! Please share an experience that’s gone well in your day.
Conditions can improve by the minute, obstacles resolved
A friend needing information on her next life steps IM to say she woke up feeling poorly and wanted to cancel. Some hours later we were able to find her phone number from our records. Loni phoned her and she is now able to come. Momentum helps move things forward.
Today at UVic, I approached a man sitting at a bench and asked him what his passion is. He responded that he does photography in the Yukon every year and that the land is so beautiful up there. He advised I go see it. I told him that I have always wanted to explore more of Canada. We talked more about Canadian travels but the way he looked when he was talking about his photography was great. It looked like he was beaming joy.
Being in person has so many advantages
Went to a presentation yesterday and saw a friend sitting in the front row. We hadn’t seen each other in years so I went up and gave him a hug. Eight years ago we started doing some cool projects together. It was great to have three of us together again in this ‘moment.’
In question period I’d asked a question and the other friend in the picture later told me just the right person to talk to on campus.
Today at church I asked a man sitting across the aisle from me what he is looking forward to most today and he said that he just wants to do enough good that when he goes to bed at night he can reflect and know that he made a positive change in the world. I told him about Traveler in Your Own Town and he seemed very interested in the stories and community building. I’m excited to know that people around the city (and world) are trying to make a positive difference in their communities.
Walking my dog today, I saw a woman reading a book while she threw a ball for her dog to fetch. I asked her if she was reading anything interesting, and she said she was reading The Empathy Exams. I asked her what she has learned from the book, and she said that “nothing in life is a stand-alone. Every hardship and success creates the person you are. Everything in your life highlights one another, giving them greater depth, and you should accept the good with the bad. Everything has a meaning.”
Did a presentation for a Child Studies and Youth Care class at UVic. They are focusing on ‘Solution focused brief therapy.’ To me that sounds like Conversation, and Traveler in Your Own Town. It ties in closely to our core belief that, “The solution to your challenge is often one conversation away.” I made it pretty interactive and a number of students told me I made their day. They said it inspired them, lifted their spirits.
