The opportunity to offer monthly events like Green Drinks Victoria allows me to look at an event and see how it could be tweaked.
Jean Luc is used to a lot o love. His ‘parents’ are away so using this Snugli allows for hands-free contact and comfort.
Even better that we found the Snugli from Freecycle.
A first. We rented Seth Rogen’s The Interview from YouTube and had 4 friends over to watch it. Seth recommend watching it with others so we did. It added to the experience. A mother considered coming to view it a reprieve from mothering responsibilities….I was impressed by the surprising twists that were written into this story. How to bring down a dictator some consider a ‘god.’
It was good that the right people were in our viewing room, no one offended by the coarse dialogue throughout.
Heard that an engineer who someone introduced to me at Spinnakers in December, and I in turn introduced to an HP staff member at Green Drinks, was recommended for one of two job openings at HP. The Green Drinks member sat down with him for some time, which is so heartening to someone looking for work.
He even went to UVic to see one of his presentations, not wanting to recommend him blindly.
Turns out the engineer is also a Thai Kickboxer, Professional Photographer, and Philosopher
I changed sections of the bus when the talk around me was too ‘sickly’. I ended up sitting near a student who moved over a bit on the bench when an elderly woman was trying to sit down. I asked her what she was studying. ” Nursing.”
” Thought it was a nurturing profession from the care you just showed.”
She decided to go into nursing one day when she was 7 or 8 years old.
It still shows, and looks good on her. #bctransit
She has so many options in her career but is considering community nursing as it has greater opportunity for direct support and care.
I had been told by a couple of family members that one of our very awkward relatives was coming to town to see me and an old friend. The last time this happened I arranged to be out when I thought she might come, and sent her a note about the plant she left at the door. I mentioned all this to my hairdresser with a giggle, and said I might hide again. This dear hairdresser very firmly but kindly told me to welcome her, accept any gift, and invite her in to sit and visit for awhile. So I did this, accepted her chocolates, and she quickly offered to do something for me. So I said that I would appreciate some help buying a little piece of furniture. So we went off and did this quite satisfactorily, then parted happily. I’m so glad that this happened this way, and that my hairdresser was good enough to give me her ideas.
