What students learned from Briony Penn – Dec 5

I think Briony Penn left the impact on me that we should think about what we do and why we do it and now I think that has sunk in my head.

What I found interesting about Briony is that she grew up in a nice environment and there was a forest and they chopped it down. She said it felt like part f her was destroyed was surprised she was phoned by stephen Dion and was chosen to run in the election. I was surprised when she said the natural world inspires her. She said something really important as well. she said that we can’t ignore the environment.

The thing I learned about you was:

That being a woman you still have opportunities and that you can be “someone” in the world.

I also liked that you are always standing to represent the nature. (really important)

Environment is the most important issue, not economy, and stand up for what you believe in. She is a strong person, with a humourous personality, and overall very interesting.

Very interesting …I think you have a really awesome occupation! It was great to hear you talking about your different dreams for the environment

I also really like what you said about criticism, how you should not let it effect you too much and to take it and use it in a useful way. As well, I think that you inspired all of us and for sharing your experience.

Briony had been building a great environmentally friendly house. She did not only make this idea of making this house but she actually found the time to make it

I really like your positive attitude and that you inspire people by smiling and being happy. I also REALLY like the idea of your 100 mile house, it sounds really amazing. I am glad you came and shared your knowledge and experience with us, we all enjoyed it and the newt/frog story.

I loved Briony Penn’s session!!! She is just so cheerful and happy and you can tell that she really loves nature! What really stood out for me was her story about the newts and the frogs. It must have felt so good knowing that she saved the lives of so many creatures! If everybody does something small like that, it will make a huge impact. Like, 1 is a small number, but 1+1+1+1… a million times makes a huge number!!! I also loved how she talked about how the most important thing for her to get across was that kids should get out and enjoy nature.

Another thing that was cool was the house she described that she was building. That is just such a great idea! I thought it was neat how everything about the house was eco-friendly. I admire how she isn’t afraid to go to such great lengths to tread lightly on the Earth.

And finally, the gumboot dancing was awesome!
