Leadership and Community School Interviews

ConversationWorks, and  Community School Interviews (CSI ) builds key skills that students subsequently apply in school and in community.. It is coordinated and facilitated by Christopher Bowers, an award winning teaching, and executive director of Community School Interviews Society, a registered charity to help students understand how the wider world works.

Through the program  students  get to interview three  leaders from the community. The program teaches and reinforces  team building,  personal communication,  listening,  metacognition,  and critical thinking in the context of interviews with leaders in business, government, military, post secondary institutions  and community organizations.

The program requires no prep time for teachers. They may merely attend, observe student performance, and learn from the speakers, many of whom teachers’ busy lives would rarely allow them to meet let alone integrate into their classes.   Ideally the program requires one prep period in a computer lab to understand  the process, and create questions for each speaker. A second period is where the interviews take place, and students then go on-line to reflect on their learning and give feedback.

Cost: First group is free, additional classes $200.
